We are delighted to announce that following the recent Ofsted
inspection in October, St Augustine’s school has been rated as a GOOD school and recognised again as a
nurturing educational institution that not only prioritises academic excellence
but also places the well-being and individual growth of its students at the
heart of its work ensuring they achieve their commitment for students to be
‘proud of their heritage, curious to learn and prepared for their futures’. The
positive culture, highly effective teaching and collaborative relationships
within the school are highlights that the entire school community should be
rightly very proud of.
Retaining their ‘Good’ grade from inspectors, the HMI report explained that “Every pupil is treated as an individual at St Augustine’s School….They are safe and cared for well. They want to meet the school’s high academic expectations” (Ofsted 2023).
The desire of pupils to meet high academic expectations reflects a commitment to academic excellence and a culture that encourages and values learning; “Teachers have deep subject knowledge. They provide clear and effective explanations to pupils. Pupils’ commitment to their learning is a strength of the school. The school places a high priority on reading.” Ofsted 2023
Parents and carers agree that the school provides well for their children, expressing a deep appreciation for the way St Augustine’s supports and nurtures their children. The school’s achievement would not have been possible without the dedicated and committed staff team who work tirelessly to provide a wealth of learning opportunity and experience for the students “Staff are proud to work at St Augustine’s Catholic School and are happy in their work” (Ofsted 2023).
Head of School Aishling Robinson is delighted with this well-deserved outcome Ofsted outcome “Our pupils and staff are our greatest asset and it is a testament to their hard work and community ethos that the OFSTED Inspection team recognised this as the core to our school ethos. Our high-quality learning that occurs in every classroom every day is something we are very proud of as it means all our children receive the very best education to enable them to live their best life. We will continue to strive forward as a school community to build on our achievements.”
