Reports & Statutory Information
Ofsted
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages.
Every week, they carry out hundreds of inspections and regulatory visits throughout England and publish the results online. Their goal is to achieve excellence in education and skills for learners of all ages, and in the care of children and young people.
They are responsible for:
- inspecting maintained schools and academies, some independent schools, and many other educational institutions and programmes outside of higher education
- inspecting childcare, adoption and fostering agencies and initial teacher training
- publishing reports of our findings so they can be used to improve the overall quality of education and training
- regulating a range of early years and children’s social care services, making sure they’re suitable for children and potentially vulnerable young people
- reporting to policymakers on the effectiveness of these services

CatholicSchoolsInspection(CSI)
Roman Catholic Schools within the United Kingdom, are inspected under Section 48 or Section 50 of the Educations Act 2005.

Inspections are carried out by Diocesan Catholic Schools Inspectors acting on behalf of the Bishop of Middlesbrough. Inspectors represent the Bishop and therefore must be practising Catholics in full communion with the Catholic Church.
The mission of the school is exceptionally and authentically lived out by all and is the embodiment of the outstanding provision for the Catholic life of St Mary’s. College
At our last CSI inspection in 2025 we were judged to be Good in all areas and Outstanding in Catholic Life & Mission.

School Performance Data:
Statutory assessments and examinations are carried out by all state schools.
They assess how your child’s abilities compare nationally with other children in the same year group.
Given the uneven impact of the pandemic on school and college performance data, the government has said you should not make direct comparisons between the performance data for one school or college and another, or to data from previous years
